Global Girl Media Teaches Girls How to Find Their Blogging Voice

I am honored to have been invited back for my fourth year to teach at the Global Girl Media Summer Academy. Last week, I taught the girls a workshop on "How to Find Your Blogging Voice."

I was so moved by the power in these girls' voices and their desire for a more compassionate world. They wrote on racism, immigration law, LGBT rights and isolation, the objectification of women and girls in the media, building self-confidence in girls, and a call to action for more girls to raise their voice.Their stories were personal. Their voices sincere. Their visions phenomenal. One girl shared about how she feels that through these past two weeks in the Global Girl program, she now has a voice. But in the greater world, she still feels voiceless. I'm hoping her first blog post will change that!

If you have a girl or young woman in your life, please, please, please encourage her voice. There is such wisdom and pure vision in these young women. We need their voices in the public dialogue, speaking about the social issue(s) they care about most, in order for our world to be healed and whole. Ask these young women where they see injustice. Ask them about the change they'd like to see in the world. Ask them who they want to help and why. They will have answers. Listen to them.

Hear what these young women at Global Girl Media have to say.
